Ryan Benzel's Biography

Ryan began is PGA Professional career in 2002 as an Assistant Professional at Seattle Golf Club in Seattle, WA. He gained his PGA of America Class A membership in 2006. In 2008, Ryan became the PGA Head Golf Professional at Mill Creek Country Club in Mill Creek, WA. Ryan’s interest in teaching grew while at Mill Creek and in 2009 he made a career move to become a PGA Teaching Professional. Ryan began teaching at Battle Creek Golf Course in Marysville, WA and has been working with players of all abilities since.

Ryan is also an accomplished player who knows what it is like to compete. After gaining his PGA of America membership in 2006, Ryan qualified for the 2007 PGA Professional National Championship held at Sunriver Resort. Ryan was the 2nd and 3rd round leader and went on to finish T 2nd in his first PGA PNC. Ryan has followed up that successful first year with finishes of T 4th, T 4th, and T 11th respectively. Those successes have allowed Ryan to qualify for the PGA Championship, the final major of the PGA Tour season. Ryan has competed with the best players in the world four times (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and was one of two PGA Professionals to make the 36-hole cut in 2007.

Ryan has attended teaching seminars conducted by Randy Smith (Dallas, TX) and Jim McLean (Miami, FL), both of whom have students on the PGA Tour. Ryan teaches players of all abilities and believes there is no one way to swing the golf club. It is his goal to make the game more enjoyable for those he works with using a positive instructional atmosphere.
